HakoSpace Official Account Terms of Service
Any revision will be announced as a new version under Section 12; earlier versions are never modified.
1. About These Terms and the Provider
These Terms govern the online service called the "HakoSpace Official Account" (the "Official Account"). The Official Account is provided by HakoSpace ("HakoSpace", "we", "us"). You can reach us at legal@hakospace.com.
By ticking the consent box, you confirm that you have read and agree to these Terms and to the HakoSpace Official Account Privacy Policy. The Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, why, and for how long, and forms part of these Terms. When you list a server on hakoHub you must also agree to the hakoHub Listing Policy, which likewise forms part of these Terms (see Section 7).
These Terms are separate from the End User License Agreement (EULA) and the Privacy Policy for the self-hosted HakoSpace software. Using the HakoSpace software remains governed by the EULA and is not changed by these Terms; holding an Official Account does not mean you have accepted the EULA.
2. What the Official Account Is
2.1 The Official Account currently offers three things: signing in with an email address and password, managing the account itself (for example, changing your password, signing out other devices and deleting the account), and listing on hakoHub (registering a HakoSpace server you run in the public server directory; see Section 7).
2.2 The Official Account is separate from any account on any HakoSpace server, whether self-hosted or set up by HakoSpace. The Official Account cannot be used to sign in to any HakoSpace server. We do not offer single sign-on (SSO) or OAuth for servers, and we will not link the Official Account to any member account on any server.
2.3 Other official services, such as license binding, are not part of this version. When any official service is added, we will announce it in a new version of these Terms (and of the Privacy Policy). Adding an official service is a material change under Section 12.2, and you must agree again before you can keep using the Official Account.
2.4 The Official Account is currently free. If we start charging in the future, we will announce it separately and it will apply only after you agree. These Terms contain no payment or refund provisions.
3. Eligibility and Minimum Age
3.1 You must be at least 18 years old and also have reached the age of majority under the law where you live (whichever is higher) to create or use an Official Account.
3.2 When you set a password to activate an account (accepting an invitation or completing registration) you must tick: "I am at least 18 years old and have reached the age of majority, and I have read and agree to the HakoSpace Official Account Terms of Service and Privacy Policy." This is your own declaration. We do not collect your date of birth and do not store a separate age field; the consent record only notes which documents and versions you agreed to.
3.3 If we learn that an account holder does not meet the age requirement above, we will disable and delete the account (deletion follows the process in Section 9). Anyone who believes an underage person holds an Official Account may report it by writing to legal@hakospace.com.
3.4 If paid features are ever offered, the paying person must have full legal capacity; that will be announced separately at that time.
4. Creating an Account
Official Accounts are created by HakoSpace inviting you by email or, when we open registration, by you registering yourself. You must provide an email address that you are entitled to use and can receive mail at, and set a password to activate the account. Only email addresses made up of ASCII characters are currently accepted.
You must provide an accurate email address. One email address can correspond to only one Official Account.
5. Account Security
5.1 You are responsible for keeping your password safe and for actions taken through your account, except where caused by HakoSpace's fault. Passwords must be at least 15 characters long. When you set or change a password, we check whether it appears in a list of leaked passwords (see the Privacy Policy for how).
5.2 If you find your account is being used by someone else or your password has leaked, please change your password promptly and use the "Sign out all other devices" function on the account page; you can also write to legal@hakospace.com.
5.3 To prevent brute-force attacks, repeated failed sign-ins temporarily lock the account, with lock times growing after each failure. We also limit the number of attempts for sign-in, registration, password reset and similar actions. A browser that has signed in successfully receives a security credential (cookie) so that it is unaffected by lockouts targeting that account; resetting or changing the password, disabling the account and similar events invalidate it. See the Privacy Policy.
6. Acceptable Use
You must not:
- create or use an account by impersonating another person or using someone else's email address;
- attempt unauthorized access to the Official Account service, other users' accounts or related systems, or bypass or break any security measure (including rate limits and human verification);
- create accounts in bulk by automated means, send requests in bulk, or otherwise interfere with the operation of the service;
- use the Official Account for any purpose that violates applicable law;
- list a server that is not yours or that you are not entitled to list, or provide content in a hakoHub listing that violates Section 7, the hakoHub Listing Policy or applicable law; or
- claim or imply that the Official Account can be used to sign in to a HakoSpace server, contrary to Section 2.2.
7. Listing on hakoHub
7.1 What hakoHub is. hakoHub is a public directory of HakoSpace servers operated by HakoSpace (at hub.hakospace.com). Using your Official Account at auth.hakospace.com/hub you can register a HakoSpace server that you run (to "list" it; the resulting entry in the directory, pending review or hidden, is a "Listing") and ask HakoSpace to show it in the directory. Listing is voluntary and does not affect the other functions of the Official Account. The Official Account still cannot be used to sign in to any HakoSpace server (see 2.2); the directory only lists servers and provides no sign-in or relay.
7.2 Your statements as the lister. You must tick a consent box when listing. You state and undertake that: (a) you are the administrator of the server, or have been authorized by its administrator, and are entitled to list it and to let HakoSpace read, store and display the listing content under this Section and the Privacy Policy; (b) the information you submit, and the content the server publishes that appears in the directory (name, description, icon, how to join, member and online-count ranges, and the tags you set), is truthful and you are entitled to use it, does not violate applicable law or infringe the rights of any third party, and does not violate the hakoHub Listing Policy; and (c) you have read and agree to the hakoHub Listing Policy.
7.3 Proving control with the hub key. Listing requires the hub key that hakoApp generated for that server. The key proves that you control the server and is also used for the probing between our service and that server; the Official Account shows who submitted the Listing. A key can belong to only one Official Account at a time. If a server changes hands, or you suspect the key or the account is being used by someone else, you should regenerate the key in hakoApp: the old Listing is withdrawn (removed) automatically once we confirm it, and the new administrator must list again with their own Official Account and go through review again; we do not transfer Listings between accounts. You must keep the key safe. Each Official Account can currently list up to 3 servers.
7.4 Probing and reading. Once you list a server, you authorize HakoSpace's service to connect periodically to the address you listed, to read the information the server publishes (the Privacy Policy lists which fields), and to display the reviewed content in the directory. This authorization is non-exclusive and royalty-free, is for the purpose of operating the directory only, and ends when the Listing is withdrawn or deleted, or when you disable publishing or regenerate the key in hakoApp and we confirm it (after which we stop connecting). HakoSpace does not store the images shown in the directory; visitors' browsers load them directly from your server; when review staff view a Listing on the review page, our service downloads the icon to show on the review page and likewise does not store it.
7.5 Responsibility for listing content. You are responsible for the listing content, including the name, description, icon, tags and any other content the server publishes that appears in the directory. Tags are treated as listing content. HakoSpace does not verify in advance, one by one, that content is truthful or lawful, and passing review does not reduce your responsibility.
7.6 Review, hiding, take-down and blocking. A first Listing, a changed icon, a changed name or description, and changed tags are subject to HakoSpace review; while a change is under review, the directory shows the last approved content. Changing the listed address requires pasting the original hub key again and sends the Listing back to review; until it is approved, the Listing is not shown in the directory. Under the hakoHub Listing Policy, HakoSpace may decline to list, return, hide or take down a Listing, and hide or merge tags. Grounds include: breach of this Section or the Listing Policy, breach of law or a legal requirement, a report that is verified, security concerns, and prolonged unreachability. For serious or repeated breaches, HakoSpace may also block the server's domain name or hub key fingerprint so that it cannot be listed again (a block also takes down any existing Listings that match; see Listing Policy 7.4). Where practicable we will explain the reason and tell you how to appeal, and we will handle appeals as promptly as we can (legal@hakospace.com); provided it does not compromise security or violate the law, you may write to ask for reinstatement, and if an appeal succeeds we will reinstate a Listing that was taken down (after reinstatement it must first pass a probe before it returns to the directory; if the domain name or hub key fingerprint is still on the block list, the block must be lifted first; a Listing that has already been removed cannot be reinstated and must be registered again). HakoSpace has no obligation to list any server.
7.7 Prolonged unreachability. If our service cannot reach the server you listed for a long time, then, over the periods set out in the Listing Policy, the Listing is first marked as unreachable, then hidden, and finally removed, leaving only a record that does not identify the account.
7.8 Linked to account status. When the Official Account has a deletion request pending or is disabled, your Listings are hidden right away and no longer probed (if the link-up fails temporarily, the daily reconciliation catches up at the latest); after the deletion is cancelled or the account is re-enabled, they are restored when our next probe succeeds (a Listing that was already hidden for another reason before the account was disabled stays hidden). When the account is permanently deleted, your Listings are deleted with it, leaving only a record that does not contain an account identifier (Privacy Policy, Section 9).
7.9 No endorsement; no assurance about the directory. A server being listed does not mean HakoSpace has checked, approved, endorsed or vouched for the server, its administrator, its content or its users. The information shown in the directory (including the member and online-count ranges) is reported by each server itself, and HakoSpace gives no assurance that it is accurate, complete, up to date or always available; the directory may be interrupted or delayed. Each server is run by its own administrator; HakoSpace does not operate or control it and is not responsible for its content or its administrator's conduct. Visitors decide for themselves whether to join.
7.10 The hakoHub Listing Policy. The listing conditions, prohibited content, scope of review, tag rules, and the take-down and appeal procedures are set out in the hakoHub Listing Policy. It forms part of these Terms (this Section), is agreed together with the version of these Terms and is not subject to a separate consent process; if it conflicts with these Terms, these Terms prevail. The listing form also carries its own tick box, and we record on your Listing the version of these Terms in force when you ticked it (the Listing Policy is identified by the version of these Terms and has no separate effective date). Changes to the Listing Policy follow Section 12.
7.11 Reports and appeals. To report a Listing in the directory, or to object to a review, take-down or block, write to legal@hakospace.com.
8. Suspension and Termination
8.1 You may stop using the Official Account at any time, and may request deletion of your account under Section 9.
8.2 HakoSpace may disable an account if you breach these Terms, if the account has been compromised or there is a security concern, if we learn that the holder does not meet the age requirement in Section 3, or if the law requires it (while disabled, the account cannot sign in and existing sessions are revoked). Where practicable we will explain the reason; provided it does not compromise security or violate the law, you may write to legal@hakospace.com to ask for reinstatement.
8.3 HakoSpace may also end the Official Account service after announcing it in advance. If the service ends, we will handle your data as described in the Privacy Policy.
9. Deleting Your Account
9.1 After you request deletion, the account is first disabled, and you have 14 days to cancel the deletion (a deletion you requested yourself can be cancelled by you; for deletions requested by staff see 9.2). When that period ends, the account data is permanently deleted by a periodic cleanup process (the cleanup runs every 6 hours, so actual deletion may come slightly after the end of the period).
9.2 Requesting deletion requires you to be signed in, to re-enter your password and to tick a confirmation, and all devices are signed out afterwards. During the grace period you can cancel by signing in on the sign-in page, re-entering your password on the page that appears and pressing "Cancel deletion"; simply signing in does not cancel it. We send one notification email when you request deletion and one when you cancel. While a deletion request is pending, your hakoHub Listings are hidden and no longer probed (see 7.8). HakoSpace staff can also request deletion on your behalf (with the same 14-day grace period); you cannot cancel a deletion requested by staff yourself and must write to legal@hakospace.com; staff can also cancel a deletion during the grace period, after which the account's status returns to what it was before the request (an account that was already disabled stays disabled), and devices signed out at the time of the request are not restored. Once deletion is complete the same email address can be registered again (provided registration is open at that time), and the new account has no connection to the retained records.
9.3 Deleting an account does not mean all data disappears immediately. After deletion, the following continue to be kept for the periods set out in the Privacy Policy: account event records (containing only an opaque account identifier and no email address), consent records (likewise containing only the opaque identifier, versions and times), account-related staff action records, an account deletion record (containing only the opaque identifier and times), and data that Cloudflare's database backups keep within their restore window. If you have hakoHub Listings, they are deleted together with the permanently deleted account, leaving only a record that does not contain an account identifier (a tombstone) and hakoHub review records that contain the entry number but no account identifier; in addition there is the block list (if your server was ever blocked). The retention period for each is in the Privacy Policy.
10. Service As Provided; Disclaimer
The Official Account is provided "as is". We will reasonably maintain the service, but we do not guarantee that it will be uninterrupted or error-free, and we may suspend it for maintenance, security or other reasons. These Terms do not exclude or limit any warranty liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law.
11. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, HakoSpace is not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages arising from the use of, or inability to use, the Official Account. This limitation does not apply to HakoSpace's intentional misconduct or gross negligence, and does not affect any rights that a consumer is entitled by law to assert and that cannot be excluded by contract.
12. Changes to These Terms and Re-Consent
12.1 Versions and announcements. These Terms are identified by their effective date. We may update them; an updated version will be announced on the HakoSpace website (hakospace.com) at least 14 days before its effective date. We do not promise to notify you of changes to these Terms by email.
12.2 Material changes. The following are "material changes": adding or changing the scope of the official services (for example, adding an official service); starting to charge fees; changing the provisions on limitation of liability, governing law or jurisdiction; and any change that, on a good-faith assessment, would affect a reasonable user's decision whether to keep using the Official Account.
12.3 Re-consent for material changes. After a material change takes effect, the next time you use the Official Account you will be asked to read and agree to the new version, and you cannot use the Official Account until you do. That page offers two choices: "Sign out" and "I do not agree; delete my account", and the latter requests deletion under Section 9. We record the document, version and time of your agreement.
12.4 Editorial versions. Corrections to typos, formatting and links, and clarifications that do not change the meaning, are published only as a new version with an announcement and do not require re-consent. The system requires re-consent only for material changes: it is enough that you have consented to any version from the most recent material-change version up to the current one, so an editorial version does not block you.
12.5 Earlier versions are never modified; historical versions are available on the website's archive pages.
13. Privacy
How we handle your personal data is described in the HakoSpace Official Account Privacy Policy.
14. Governing Law and Court
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Republic of China (Taiwan). For any dispute arising from or relating to these Terms, the parties agree that the Taipei District Court, Taiwan shall be the court of first instance. Mandatory provisions of law that a consumer is entitled to invoke (including provisions on jurisdiction and governing law that favor consumers) are not affected.
15. Language Versions
These Terms are provided in Traditional Chinese and English. If there is any ambiguity or inconsistency between the two language versions, the Traditional Chinese version shall prevail.
