    5. IO Apps Management

This chapter is for the server’s owner and admins. It explains how to manage the IO Apps installed on this server — small apps embedded in channels, such as Whiteboard and Snake. Click the gear icon on the right side of the tab bar (tooltip: User Settings) to open the settings panel, then click the IO Apps tab in the Server Settings group on the left to see the management panel this chapter describes. The owner and admins see exactly the same content on this tab. Putting an IO App into a channel (creating an IO App channel) is a choice you make when you create the channel, and it belongs to channel management; see §2.

Click the gear icon on the right side of the tab bar (tooltip: User Settings) to open the settings panel, then click IO Apps in the Server Settings group to open this tab.

The content area is divided into three parts, from top to bottom:

    1. A line of description at the top, with an Upload App button on the right.
    2. The list of installed IO Apps in the middle, one card per app.
    3. A Reset All Built-in Apps button below the list.

The description at the top reads, verbatim: “Manage IO apps installed on this server.”

Click the Upload App button on the right to open the upload dialog and install a new IO App on the server (see §5.4).

When you open this tab, it retrieves the list of installed apps. While it does, the list area shows Loading IO app…. Once the list has loaded, if this server has no IO Apps installed yet, the list area shows “No IO apps available”.

Each installed IO App has its own card, which shows the following from top to bottom.

At the top is the thumbnail. If the app comes with a thumbnail, that image appears here; if not, this spot shows a hexagon placeholder symbol, ⬡.

Next to the thumbnail is the app name. To the right of the name, a type badge shows where the app came from: official apps that come bundled with the product are labeled Built-in, and apps from third parties that were uploaded and installed are labeled Community.

Below the name is the app’s version; the version number starts with v. If the app has a description, it appears here too.

Below that is the active players line. When members are playing the app, this line shows the current number of players followed by active players; when no one is playing, it shows No active players.

The action buttons are at the bottom of the card.

Reset to built-in appears only on the cards of built-in apps. Click it to open the single-app reset confirmation dialog (see §5.3); once you confirm, the built-in app is restored to the official version that comes with the product.

Every card has Delete. Click it to open the delete confirmation dialog (see §5.3). While the app still has active players, you can’t click the Delete button; hovering over the button shows a hint about the current active players. Once no one is playing anymore, you can click Delete.

5.3 Confirmation Dialogs (Delete / Reset / Reset All)

Section titled “5.3 Confirmation Dialogs (Delete / Reset / Reset All)”

Delete, reset, and reset all each open a confirmation dialog first, asking whether you’re sure, to prevent accidental clicks. All three dialogs have the same structure: a title, a confirmation message, (in some of them) a note, and Cancel plus the action button at the bottom. Their exact text is as follows.

    Delete confirmation dialog

You open it from the Delete button on a card. The title is Delete IO App. The confirmation message is “Are you sure you want to delete “{name}”?”, with the name of the app you’re deleting filled in. Below the confirmation message, a note reads, verbatim: “This will not affect existing channel storage data.” The two buttons at the bottom are Cancel and Delete. Click Delete to remove the app from the server.

    Single-app reset confirmation dialog

You open it from the Reset to built-in button on a built-in app’s card. The title is Reset IO App. The confirmation message is “Are you sure you want to reset “{name}” to the built-in version?” The note below it reads, verbatim: “Your custom modifications will be lost.” The two buttons at the bottom are Cancel and Reset to built-in. Click Reset to built-in to restore the built-in app to the official version.

    Reset-all confirmation dialog

You open it from the Reset All Built-in Apps button below the list. The title is Reset All Built-in Apps. The confirmation message is “Are you sure you want to reset all built-in apps to their original versions?” The two buttons at the bottom are Cancel and Reset All Built-in Apps. Click Reset All Built-in Apps to restore every built-in app on the server to its original version at once.

To install a new IO App on this server, click the Upload App button at the top. The Upload IO App dialog opens.

In the middle of the dialog is a drop zone. Its main prompt reads, verbatim: “Drop a ZIP file here, or click to select”, and the line below it reads Max 10MB.

You can click the drop zone to choose a file, or drag a file straight onto it. Choose a .zip file.

After you choose a file, the dialog shows Selected, followed by the name of the file you chose and then its size (in MB), so you can check that you picked the right file.

At the bottom of the dialog are Cancel and the upload button. You can’t click the upload button until you choose a file; once you have, you can click it. While the upload is in progress, the button reads Uploading…; otherwise it reads Upload App. When the upload finishes, the newly installed app appears in the installed list.
